A Book to Short Film Festival

Calling all authors, filmmakers, and book/movie lovers!

Our first-ever Shelf to Screen Film Festival invites independent authors to pitch their books for adaptation by participating film production teams. Selected books will be transformed into a short film, trailer, scene, or series of scenes and screened at our festival in Vancouver

How it works:

Pitch

Interested authors submit a book pitch, adaptation idea, and rights confirmation.

Review

Our team reviews submissions for suitability, safety, and film potential.

Selected authors will be notified.

Selection

Approved pitches are shared with filmmakers, who rate their favourites.

Match

Authors are matched with a film team based on genre, interests, hopes, dreams and other production needs.

Create

Filmmakers connect with Authors to create a trailer, scene, or short adaptation of five minutes or less.

Submit

Final films are submitted and those meeting the criteria are screened at the Shelf to Screen festival at the Djavad Mowafaghian Cinema in Vancouver.
