This chapter depicts a quieter yet emotionally charged moment between the MC Olena and her ex Valentyn as the guarded distance they’ve maintained since their breakup slowly gives way to surrender.
Valentyn parks his truck at the forest’s edge, blanket in hand, crossbow slung over his broad shoulder. Olena follows him reluctantly knowing this is the place they shared many firsts. They pass claw marks in the trees and dead rabbits, hinting at their dangerous world. They arrive at the shards, a trap for werewolves, made of spell bound broken mirrors catching the moonlight.
What follows is an opening of old wounds and confessions about the future. Valentyn admits to wanting to leave the isle, while Olena deflects her secrets. They discuss their shared curse in their blood and their destiny to hunt werewolves.
Recalling a favourite quote from a fallen hunter plaque, “we are warriors in a sky painted with starlight and moon dust”, cracks the distance between them. When Valentyn touches her hand tattoo the walls come down, turning into a slow charged reunion beneath the glittering grave for monsters.
