About the Author
Kae Peach is a new author from a small town in British Columbia who loves nothing more than getting lost in a good story. She lives in the Okanagan valley with her two amazing daughters, two sweet but wacky dogs, and a wonderful husband who somehow keeps their busy family sane. When she’s not reading or writing, Kae enjoys all the outdoor adventures the valley offers with her family.
This is the second novel in the Dusted Crown series, and many of the places in Between The Lindens are inspired by the incredibly rich landscapes of British Columbia’s interior region. If you’ve ever visited the area, you may have experienced the dynamic topography of scorching pocket deserts, rolling orchards, and humid, temperate rain forests all within a day’s drive. Kae hopes that she has brought the magic of her beautiful province to the pages of this book, and that you’ll enjoy the richness of this region as much as she does.
Short Film Adaptation Idea
The opening scene: Maple is breaking into the junk yard of their dystopian world to try and steal parts for an air purifier for her sick little sister. The scene is gritty, with dust and dirt flying everywhere and is reminiscent of something you might see on Dune or Mad Max. Maple struggles to break in, and then is instantly caught by guards. She fights her way out of the junk yard, and runs through their dust riddled world back to her shanty home where her younger siblings still lay asleep, defeated. She wakes up a few hours later to find out that her sister has been suspended from school and that she is going to be late for her dayshift at the diner.
